The 7.004km Spa-Francorchamps circuit has always demanded compromise, but the 2026 regulations have amplified that challenge. The flat-out blasts through Eau Rouge onto the Kemmel Straight and the run towards Blanchimont place enormous demands on the hybrid power units, with teams increasingly suffering from “super clip”—the point at which deployable electrical energy is exhausted before the end of the longest straights.
As a result, every drag-saving aerodynamic gain has become invaluable.
