Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Season 6 is now live, and Treyarch has packed The Haunting with substantially more than a Halloween makeover.
The update launched on 17 September with two new Battle Pass weapons, new and rethemed Multiplayer maps, fresh limited-time modes, a Zombies Survival map, major Rogue Run additions, changes to Endgame and a new wave of Operators and events.
There is also a sizeable DOOM collaboration coming during the season, including the Doom Slayer himself.
If you are jumping back into Black Ops 7 after a break — or returning after Season 5 — there is quite a lot to unpack. Here are the additions that matter most.
Black Ops 7 Season 6 new weapons
Season 6 adds four weapons across the season, although only two form part of the initial Battle Pass grind.
The VMP SMG returns from Black Ops 4 and is available as a free Battle Pass unlock on Page 3. It is built around high mobility, fast handling and a rapid rate of fire, making it an obvious option for aggressive players and objective modes.
Alongside it is the TR51 Para Assault Rifle, unlocked free on Page 6. The TR51 Para starts as a hard-hitting semi-automatic rifle with low recoil and strong bullet velocity, but it can also be converted to fully automatic fire through its Prestige Attachment. Activision’s Season 6 announcement details the weapon line-up and Battle Pass unlocks.
The two event weapons are more unusual.
The Arcblade is a fast melee weapon based around a bladed tonfa design and will arrive through the Camo Costume Party event.
Then there is the Roc 20mm, a heavy semi-automatic Special Weapon firing 20mm ammunition. It trades handling and recoil for serious damage and can eventually be fitted with an explosive full-auto conversion. The Roc 20mm is tied to the DOOM Event Pass during the season.
That gives Season 6 a considerably more varied weapon drop than simply adding another assault rifle and SMG and calling it a day.
Quantum and Bloodstead join Multiplayer
There are two main Season 6 Multiplayer maps.
Quantum is an entirely new medium-sized 6v6 map set inside a Guild quantum-computing facility beneath the Arctic ice. Outdoor areas including the Courtyard and Catwalk are mixed with much tighter interior spaces around the server rooms and turbine facility.
Bloodstead, meanwhile, turns Homestead into something much nastier for The Haunting. Blood covers parts of the environment, zombies surround the property and the familiar location has been reworked into a horror-themed version of itself.
Season 6 also takes three Zombies locations and uses them as dedicated Multiplayer spaces for one of the update’s more interesting new modes: Roadkill, Inferno and Lost. The full launch changes are listed in the official Black Ops 7 Season 6 patch notes.
T.E.D.D. Trials mixes Multiplayer and Zombies
T.E.D.D. Trials is available from launch and takes 6v6 Multiplayer into those three Zombies environments.
Rather than simply transplanting Team Deathmatch into a Zombies map, teams work through a rotating selection of five trials while also dealing with the undead. Ray Guns are thrown into the mix too, because apparently regular firearms weren’t chaotic enough.
The team reaching the score limit first — or holding the highest score when time expires — wins.
It is one of the more distinctive additions in Season 6 and gives the Zombies crossover some actual gameplay purpose rather than using the maps purely as Halloween scenery.
Hordepoint and Freeze Tag are coming during Season 6
More modes will arrive as the season progresses.
Hordepoint puts an undead spin on Hardpoint. Teams still fight over the objective, but zombies roam the battlefield and control of the point can turn the horde against the opposing team.
Freeze Tag also returns later in the season. Players who are downed become frozen in ice and can only return if teammates break them free. Freeze the entire opposing team and you receive a bonus.
There is also a Black Ops 7 Appreciation Moshpit planned, combining Face Off and Core modes across popular maps from the past year.
Zombies gets a new Survival map: Tenshu
Zombies players have plenty to dig into as well.
Tenshu is a new Survival map set within part of Kowakujō’s ancestral castle. Players fight through areas including the Tenshu Entrance, Onsen Baths, War Room, Storage Rooms and Workshop while dealing with zombies, Hellhounds and Oni.
It is a straightforward survival challenge: gear up, survive for as long as possible and either keep pushing the rounds or attempt an Exfil.
Rewards are available for reaching Rounds 10, 25 and 50.
Rex Infernus has also received Directed Mode, providing on-screen guidance through its Main Quest with a maximum round cap of 15, while a Starting Room challenge restricts players to the opening house and its limited supply of equipment.
Rogue Run gets a substantial upgrade
Rogue Run hasn’t been left behind.
Three new high-level pedestal rewards have been added: Pack-a-Punch Tier IV, an Ultra-Rarity weapon upgrade and Golden Armor, with the latter regenerating armour plates over time.
Casual and Hardcore playlists have also been added for Paradox Junction and Kowakujō, while pumpkin-headed zombies invade Rogue Run as part of The Haunting.
Players who have completed every Main Quest across Black Ops 7’s Round-Based Zombies maps should also keep an eye on the new Super Easter Egg.
Treyarch isn’t giving everything away, but one confirmed reward is The Warden as an unlockable Operator.
Endgame gets darker — literally
Season 6 moves Avalon into nighttime for Endgame.
The change isn’t simply cosmetic, with Activities and Assignments now playing out against the darker version of the map alongside the existing Fears and Guild forces.
A new Forbidden Summoning Event also arrives at launch. Players must unlock seals to release a new threat into Avalon before taking it down for rewards.
Blackjack, Revenant and Doom Slayer join the Operator roster
The Season 6 Battle Pass introduces Danny “Blackjack” Li, with his standard Blackjack skin available as an instant Battle Pass reward.
Finishing the Battle Pass unlocks his Zenith Ultra Operator Skin.
BlackCell buyers instead get Revenant as the headline new Operator, alongside additional variants that can be unlocked through BlackCell challenges.
And then there is DOOM.
The Doom Slayer arrives during the season through the premium track of the DOOM Event Pass, with a classic Doom Guy skin also included among its rewards.
The event also features DOOM-themed weapon blueprints including the “Crucible” Katana blueprint and “Tear” M10 Breacher shotgun blueprint, while the Roc 20mm forms part of the free reward track.
What is included in the Season 6 Battle Pass?
The regular Battle Pass costs 1,100 COD Points, while the 2,400 COD Point bundle includes 20 Battle Pass Tokens.
There are more than 100 rewards in total, with up to 1,100 COD Points available to earn back through progression.
Most importantly, the VMP and TR51 Para are free base-weapon unlocks, meaning players don’t need to purchase the premium Battle Pass to get either weapon.
BlackCell adds Revenant, additional Operator skins, weapon blueprints, COD Points, a Mastercraft AN-94 blueprint and its own mastery-camo track.
Ranked Play gets a shortened Season 6
Treyarch has confirmed that Season 6 Ranked Play has a shortened run time, giving competitive players less time than usual to climb divisions and collect the seasonal rewards.
Seasonal rewards include weapon camos for Gold through Top 250 ranks alongside Calling Cards and a Pro Re-Issue M15 Mod 0 blueprint for earning five wins.
Treyarch has also made further adjustments to its SR system, including additional penalties based on scoreboard position and the relative ranks of opponents.
Tech Torque Verdict
Black Ops 7 Season 6 has enough new material here to feel like a proper seasonal update rather than a themed coat of paint.
The returning VMP will immediately attract veteran Black Ops players, while T.E.D.D. Trials, Tenshu and the expanded Rogue Run give the update worthwhile additions beyond the Battle Pass grind.
The Haunting theme is predictably everywhere, but the more interesting story is how much Treyarch is mixing Black Ops 7’s modes together. Zombies locations entering Multiplayer, undead invading objective modes and DOOM joining the Operator roster make Season 6 feel deliberately chaotic.
Season 6 also arrives as Call of Duty begins looking towards its next major release. We have already been following that transition through our Modern Warfare 4 beta coverage, but for Black Ops 7 players there is still plenty here to get stuck into first.
