Aprilia filled the top four places at the Indonesian MotoGP Grand Prix as Marco Bezzecchi won at Mandalika and Jorge Martín regained the championship lead. At Brands Hatch, Tom Ingram won twice before a penalty changed the result of the BTCC’s final race of 2026.
Martín now leads Marc Márquez by just two points. In the BTCC, Ash Sutton finished the season as a record five-time champion, 127 points clear of Ingram.
Bezzecchi leads historic Aprilia top-four finish in Indonesia
Bezzecchi and Raúl Fernández both crashed at the opening corner of Saturday’s MotoGP Sprint. A day later they were fighting for the Grand Prix win, with Bezzecchi taking victory ahead of Fernández, Martín and Ai Ogura. It was Aprilia’s first lockout of the top four in MotoGP.
Fernández started from his first premier-class pole and led much of the race. Bezzecchi briefly headed the field off the line, then chased down the Trackhouse Aprilia and made his move on lap 19 of 27. He pulled away to win by 4.260 seconds.
Fernández held on to second despite racing with two fractured fingers sustained in the Sprint crash. He had to adjust his braking technique but still kept Martín behind him to complete an Aprilia one-two.
The win was Bezzecchi’s first Grand Prix victory since Mugello and the 300th premier-class win by an Italian rider. Both milestones are recorded in the official Indonesian Grand Prix report.
Martín takes back MotoGP lead after Márquez’s Sprint win
Marc Márquez won Saturday’s Sprint ahead of Ogura and Fabio Di Giannantonio. The early crashes for Bezzecchi and Fernández left the Aprilia challenge badly weakened, while Martín came home fourth. Márquez went into Sunday with a four-point championship lead.
Martín reversed that swing in the Grand Prix. He finished third, while Márquez could manage only sixth on the Ducati. The Aprilia rider leads with 355 points to Márquez’s 353 heading into the next round.
With two points between them, neither rider has much margin for a bad race. Márquez has already made an exceptional recovery this year, having overturned a 102-point deficit to reach the championship lead. Mandalika put Martín back in front, but the title remains finely balanced.
Ingram wins twice at BTCC Brands Hatch finale
Tom Ingram won both of the opening races at Brands Hatch as the 2026 BTCC season reached its conclusion on the Grand Prix circuit.
In Race 1, Ingram fought pole-sitter Aiden Moffat for the lead before making the decisive pass in the closing stages. Moffat crossed the line second but received a five-second track-limits penalty, moving Josh Cook into the runner-up spot and Ricky Collard to third.
Ingram controlled Race 2 from the front to complete his double. Cook was second again, with Sutton third. Mikey Doble’s fourth-place finish secured the Independent Drivers’ Trophy.
Ingram ended the season with five race wins and second place in the overall standings. The official BTCC Race 2 report confirms his Brands Hatch double and Doble’s Independents title.
Cammish awarded Race 3 win after Collard penalty
Ricky Collard thought he had taken his maiden BTCC victory in the last race of the season. Driving the Team VERTU Hyundai, he led home Dan Cammish and Ash Sutton after a close fight on the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit.
Ingram and Tom Chilton had been eliminated in a first-corner incident, and two safety-car periods interrupted the race. Collard held off the NAPA Fords on track, but stewards handed him a five-second penalty for breaching the safety-car restart procedure.
Cammish was awarded the win ahead of Sutton and Dexter Patterson, with Collard demoted to eighth. The amended classification and the reason for the penalty appear in Brands Hatch’s updated race report.
The decision denied Team VERTU a third victory from three races and gave NAPA Racing UK a one-two to close the season.
Sutton ends 2026 with record fifth BTCC title
Ash Sutton arrived at Brands Hatch with his fifth BTCC championship already secured. His title-winning performance at Silverstone had made him the first driver in the championship’s history to claim five titles.
The NAPA Racing UK driver finished the season on 514 points, 127 clear of Tom Ingram on 387, with Dan Cammish third on 369. NAPA Racing UK also secured the Teams’ Championship, while Alliance Racing/Ford claimed the Manufacturers’/Constructors’ title.
Mikey Doble took the Independents Trophy, with Dexter Patterson securing the Jack Sears Trophy.
Tech Torque Verdict
Bezzecchi’s win and Aprilia’s top-four sweep were the standout results at Mandalika. For the championship, though, Martín’s third place may prove just as valuable. He leaves Indonesia two points ahead of Márquez, with little separating them on the track or in the standings.
At Brands Hatch, Ingram finished strongly with two wins, while the penalty for Collard gave the finale an unexpected outcome. Sutton’s fifth title was already settled, but Cammish’s victory and the battles behind him ensured the BTCC season did not end quietly.
