PlayStation State of Play September 2026 is confirmed for Thursday 3 September, with two broadcasts running back-to-back. Sony is promising updates from PlayStation Studios and third-party partners before an extended look at Square Enix’s Final Fantasy VII Revelation.
The first presentation will be followed immediately by State of Play Japan, a separate broadcast focused on developers from Japan and across Asia. Together, the two shows give PlayStation players a substantial afternoon of announcements without Sony having to reveal the full line-up in advance.
When is the September State of Play?
According to the official PlayStation Blog announcement, the broadcasts begin on Thursday 3 September at 6am PT / 9am ET / 3pm CEST / 10pm JST. For viewers in the UK, that means a 2:00pm BST start.

Both broadcasts will stream live through PlayStation’s YouTube and Twitch channels. The main State of Play will be presented in English with Japanese subtitles, while State of Play Japan will be presented in Japanese with English subtitles.
What has Sony confirmed?
Sony says the opening State of Play will feature updates and announcements from PlayStation Studios and third-party partners. The company has deliberately kept most of the running order under wraps, but one game is already confirmed as a major part of the presentation.
The show will conclude with an extended look at Final Fantasy VII Revelation from Square Enix. That makes the final chapter of the Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy the clearest anchor for the broadcast.
Square Enix recently used Gamescom to show the enormous Weapons and the Highwind, with the game currently scheduled for spring 2027 on PlayStation 5. State of Play Japan follows immediately afterwards
Once the main presentation finishes, Sony will move directly into State of Play Japan.
The second broadcast will be hosted by Yuki Kaji and will focus specifically on upcoming games from studios in Japan and across Asia. Sony is promising new gameplay, announcements and deeper looks at selected titles, but it has not published a complete list of games.
That distinction is important. There will inevitably be speculation before the broadcast, but Sony has only confirmed the format and regional focus. Treating rumoured appearances as guaranteed would get ahead of what PlayStation has actually announced.
Why this State of Play is worth watching
The back-to-back structure makes this State of Play more interesting than a routine single showcase. Sony can use the opening broadcast for its broader global line-up before giving developers from Japan and Asia a more focused stage immediately afterwards.
